Rainbow Meats scooped the pool at the recent Australian Meat Industry Council awards.

A butcher with stores across Melbourne has struck gold with its innovative range of sausages and burgers.

Rainbow Meats won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Australian Meat Industry Council’s (AMIC) 2021 Sausage King, Best Burger and Smallgoods Awards, for Metro A and B regions.

Rainbow Meats’ sausage and burger range impressed judges across a range of categories, taking out seven gold, three silver and four bronze prizes.

Founder and managing director Frank Russo said he was exceptionally proud of each Rainbow Meats retail outlet and their butchers who each put their individual stamp on their sausage and burger products.

“In these times of Covid, it just gives the staff an absolute boost of confidence,” he said.

“They were just so excited.

“They’re working hard for their customers during Covid and we’re very community orientated, and (the awards) were a big buzz for our customers too.”

Mr Russo said the key to Rainbow Meats’ success was serving fresh, good quality meat and having consistency with their products.

He opened his first store at Chirnside Park in 1979, and there are now five outlets across Melbourne, with stores in Camberwell, Croydon, Highpoint Shopping Centre and Caroline Springs.

“I love the retail side of it, Rainbow Meats has always been customer service orientated,” Mr Russo said.

“That’s what it’s really about, making the customers feel special.”
