Police in Melbourne’s outer east have seized more than $3 million of cannabis in three days following targeted raids on an alleged drug gang.
Croydon detectives uncovered their second seven-figure find this week when they raided at a home in Ringwood near EastLink and The Coach pub yesterday afternoon.
A man in the house at the time was arrested and an estimated 80kg of the drug, with a street value of $2 million, was found at the home in Burwood Ave at 2pm.
It followed Tuesday afternoon’s discovery at an abandoned factory in Burton Ct in Bayswater, where 50kg of cannabis with a street value of $1.25 million was seized, and a 37-year-old St Albans man arrested.
The raids were part of detectives’ ongoing investigations into a drug ring they believe is operating in Melbourne’s west.
Sgt Ell McGibbony said more than 120 large, mature cannabis plants were found in six rooms inside the Ringwood home.
A 35-year-old St Albans man was arrested and taken into custody at Croydon police station for questioning.

Sgt McGibbony said both raids were connected and signalled a breakthrough in disrupting distribution of the drug in Melbourne’s suburbs.
“Today’s raid is part of Croydon divisional tasking unit’s investigation into the distribution of commercial quantities of cannabis, being distributed across Victoria by crime gangs,” he said.
“There is a lot of cannabis packed into a tiny house, and a seizure of this magnitude will strike a significant blow into the heart of this crime gang.”
