A popular outer eastern suburb takeaway shop with the lot has begun sharing its delicious tastes with even more of Melbourne’s outer east.
The owners of Montrose Charcoal Chicken Pizza and Kebabs have just taken over Ferntree Charcoal Chicken and Kebabs in Upper Ferntree Gully.
The new store offers the same authentic recipes and cheap eats that have been enjoyed in Montrose for the past six years, courtesy of Turkish-Italian chef Alex Alexandra and his wife Mary Azzopardi.
The restaurants may offer the prices of a regular takeaway shop, but Mr Alexandra’s products are made with maximum authenticity to achieve the very best quality.
The chef, who formerly worked in an Italian restaurant for 10 years, makes everything from scratch and uses his own special recipes to achieve the best taste for his pizza, pasta, parmas, kebabs, burgers, chickens, chips and HSPs.
“I do everything myself,” he said.
He uses fresh tomatoes and basil to make the tomato paste for his pizzas and uses premium-quality meat to make the 200g beef patties for the beef burgers.
Mr Alexandra makes a unique type of chicken salt with his “own secret recipe”, his own gravy and specially makes the stuffing for his rotisserie chickens using veggies, saffron rice and his secret-spice recipe.
Mr Alexandra said he was very generous with servings and pizza toppings, and all the items on the wide-ranging menu could be made gluten-free.

His Montrose store has long been popular with customers, and he said the Ferntree Gully business was already booming since he and his wife took over four months ago.
“Almost every customer that comes in says we have the best chips and pizza in town,” he said.
He said the Montrose store was also renowned for their HSPs, which tended to be the most popular item on the menu, followed closely by the chips and rotisserie chickens.
Both takeaway stores are open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Sunday.
The Montrose store can be found at 1/926 Mount Dandenong Tourist Road Montrose, while the new store is at 1202 Burwood Highway, Upper Ferntree Gully.
