Melbourne man Michael ‘Mike’ Mier charged with rape and sexual penetration of a child

A Melbourne man who likes cosplay dress-ups and changing hair colour has allegedly been involved in child abuse.

An accused rapist who changes his hair colour and dresses in cosplay outfits allegedly told a child to commit a sex act on herself.

Michael ‘Mike’ Mier, 37, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday after he was charged with 36 offences including rape, sexual penetration of a child under 16 and produce child porn.

It’s alleged Mier committed the bulk of the serious allegations at Croydon and Boronia more than 15 years ago.

Mier, who is also charged with raping a woman in 2015, was allegedly caught with child abuse material at Kilsyth in February last year.

Mier allegedly committed multiple indecent acts with a female child.

Mier also allegedly produced child porn which “depicted” a child under 18 “engaging in sexual activity”.

Mier dressed in a costume.

Mier is also accused of sexually assaulting a child at Croydon North.

Mier, who earlier appeared at court via internet link with a silver hair shade sitting on a gaming chair with a toy collection displayed prominently in the background, also allegedly raped a woman multiple times in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs.

Knox Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team charged Mier in June this year.

Mier’s Facebook page is littered with images of him dressed up in differing cosplay outfits.

There is also an image of Mier sitting in a JB Hi-Fi store wearing a staff lanyard which was posted to Facebook in January this year.

Mier, who appeared at court today in person wearing a purple shirt, elected to have his matter determined directly at the County Court.

Mier, who pleaded not guilty to his raft of charges, will next front court at a later date.
