More than $100,000 of cannabis destined for Melbourne’s streets has been seized following a police raid in Ringwood.

Croydon detective Senior Sergeant Jim Sutherland said detectives raided a home in Burwood Ave at 8.50am on February 11 and discovered 123 cannabis plants inside.

Along with the plants, which had a street value of more than $100,000, detectives also found a small quantity of ice and a knife.

Sen-Sgt Sutherland said a Vietnamese man, 27, was found inside the home and arrested by detectives as he tried to flee the scene.

He said the man was on an expired visa and was taken to Croydon police station for questioning.

Sen-Sgt Sutherland said the man would be charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis, trafficking ice, possessing a prohibited weapon and proceeds of crime.

He said the man would be remanded in custody and face the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
