A family has been left devastated after a man was crushed to death by the tip truck he was fixing in Lilydale.

Paramedics and police were called to the Yarra Ranges residential address about 4.20pm on Sunday, July 26.

Detective Senior Constable Andrew Austin said police believe the man was working on a tip truck before it crushed him – killing the 34-year-old instantly.

Sen-Constable Austin said police understand the truck was in a certain position for the man to make repairs and something has gone amiss causing the man to be killed.

He said the accident was not suspicious and police were preparing a report for the coroner.
