An abandoned car has rolled down an embankment while on fire in Lilydale smashing, through a shed, mowing down shrubs and stopping just short of hitting a house.
Emergency services were called just after 7am and stopped the flames from spreading to the Bastow Rd property on October 9.
According to a post on social media, the burgundy Pajero had been dumped on the street almost two weeks ago.
A local took to Facebook on October 5, to ask if anyone recognised the dumped Mitsubishi 4WD that had been left for almost a week with no number plates.
Lilydale CFA Lieutenant Paul Simpson said the car was alight when it rolled down the embankment, over a wooden shed, and stopped before crashing into the house.
He said crews worked to protect the house from the flames.
Crews from Coldstream and Mt Evelyn CFA also attended.
Police have been contacted for comment.
