Knox real estate: Tattooed agent Adam Flynn reveals market trends for 2022

A Knox real estate director has shared how being covered in tatts has been the key to his success, and revealed which local suburbs will shine in 2022.

He’s got hundreds of tattoos, but you won’t find a ‘for sale’ sign or a house inked anywhere on Adam Flynn.

The director of Boronia’s Coronis Real Estate is one of the most tattooed real estate agents in Australia and has worked in Knox for more than 21 years.

His inked-up appearance hasn’t had an impact on his success, with the agency now boasting several offices across the east, and his business turning over more than $7m annually and managing more than $700m in assets.

“It hasn’t affected business at all in any way shape or form,” he said.

“It’s part of an expression of who I am … and living a life of authenticity is very important to me.

“When you are genuine and authentic and consistent with who you are, opportunities arise, because people are comfortable in being themselves and transparent as well.”

Mr Flynn, who has tattoos all over his body and on part of his face, said most real estate agents probably had tattoos as well, but hidden “under their business shirts”.

His most unique design is the face of four-year-old son Boston on his leg, which he got done just after his son was born.

Mr Flynn predicted the local real estate market to again perform strongly in 2022, but said house prices could drop if the Reserve Bank of Australia begins lifting interest rates.

He earmarked Bayswater, Ferntree Gully and Boronia as three suburbs which could perform well and be a hot focus for potential home buyers due to their rail connections and infrastructure.

“The whole city of Knox will do well (in 2022), but there will be a spotlight on suburbs that have railway lines,” he said.

“Some buyers have specific tick boxes for what a property has, they have to tick (nearby) schooling, train stations and so forth, and those three suburbs have that.”

Mr Flynn also recommended aspiring first home buyers who don’t have to buy urgently to keep saving their pennies, as they would get better value after an interest rate rise.

“If they are renting or are at home with mum and dad, it’s time to chill out,” he said.

“I would be waiting for the first interest rate rise and then actively enter the space, there will be more value if that happens as opposed to the current climate.

“And if you’re going to be selling in the next 24 months, get in sooner rather than later.”
