A cat was discovered with its legs bound with cable ties and duct tape in an horrific case of animal cruelty in Ferntree Gully.
The male domestic short haired tabby had been dumped and left defenceless at Wally Tew Reserve until a walker alerted the RSPCA and took the animal to a nearby veterinary clinic on April 30.
Knox Leader has previously reported on a horrific spray-paint attack on a Knoxfield cat, which left the feline “a little scarred”.
RSPCA Victoria investigators are appealing for information on the horrific case. The authority’s inspector Kate Davies said the cat was expected to make a full recovery.
Ms Davies said the vet team removed the tape and cable ties and assessed the cat for additional damage and general health condition.
“Thankfully it does not appear the cat has suffered any permanent damage, however it would have been in significant physical pain and experienced mental distress,” she said.
“We are currently encouraging anyone who has seen something that may assist in this investigation to come forward with information.”
She said it was a “horrific act of animal cruelty” and thanked the person who found the animal and reacted quickly allowing the cat to avoid further suffering.
“We are asking anyone who recognises the cat or has information about this incident to please come forward to help us identify the person or persons responsible for this act of cruelty,” Ms Davies said.
She said the authority relied on the community to help find those responsible.
On social media the post has attracted almost 850 comments from people appalled at the disgusting act.
Hannah Pope said there needed to be harsher punishment when it comes to animal cruelty.
“Poor furbaby hope you find a loving home,” Ms Pope said.
