A former Melbourne Instagram influencer who claimed she threw herself off a city building in an apparent suicide attempt has faced court on criminal charges.
Georgia Brodrick, 23, fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last month charged with multiple offences including assault and threatening to inflict serious injury.
Ms Brodrick, from Rowville, is accused of assaulting her alleged victim on December 30 last year.
The former dancer made headlines after she fell from a city apartment on July 17 last year.
Ms Brodrick told media she threw herself off the balcony to escape a controlling boyfriend.
The young woman claimed the “abuse was so bad” and “help so limited” she had “no option” but to jump from the eighth storey balcony.
Ms Brodrick landed in a ditch and spent seven days in a coma before commencing a long recovery.
A GoFundMe page set up by a friend to help cover Ms Brodrick’s recovery and ongoing treatment has so far raised almost $4000 of the $50,000 goal.
Ms Brodrick, who told the Herald Sun she became an Instagram influencer as a mental health advocate following the fall, has since disabled her @snxke account which had more than 25,000 followers.
However, Ms Brodrick’s social media status is slowly climbing again with her latest account ‘snxke2.0’ at more than 8500 followers.
Ms Brodrick said she had worked as a dancer but is currently unemployed and plans to study social work.
The matter before Magistrate Gregory McNamara was set down for a guilty plea but Ms Brodrick flipped and decided to contest the charges, the court was told.
Ms Brodrick told the Herald Sun an earlier lawyer advised her to plead guilty because it would make it “easier” but she will now steadfastly defend the charges.
“I’m not guilty,” Ms Brodrick told the Herald Sun.
Ms Brodrick is due to face court again in March next year.
