A Healesville drug dealer was under the watchful eye of corrections when she caused a horror car smash which killed a beloved mother.

Monica Kellalea, 37, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The Melbourne Magistrates’ Court heard Monica Kellalea, 37, will front the County Court in January for a “serious matter”.

Kellalea, a mother, pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing death after being charged earlier this year.

Kellalea caused a horror smash at Murrindindi near Yea in Melbourne’s north east which resulted in the death of 57-year-old Belgrave South mother Melinda Gordon-Addison.

Kellalea was on a four-year community correction order at the time of the Melba Highway collision which occurred on February 6 this year.

The supervised order included 300 hours of community work treatment and rehabilitation for drugs.

Kellalea was convicted and handed the order after pleading guilty to trafficking meth and pentylone in November last year.

Kellalea’s drug racket came unstuck after police raided the Healesville home she shared with her children on April 7 last year.

Police seized almost 250g of meth, cannabis, GHB, prescription drugs and 50 pentylone tablets which the court heard was essentially “ecstasy”.

However, the deadly drug has been linked to mass overdoses due to its potency after users mistakenly believe they are taking less potent ecstasy.

Police also seized $2000 cash, digital scales, a vacuum sealer, two mobile phones and 100g of an alleged drug cutting agent at the Lowes Rd property.

Kellalea approached investigators at the raid with information after she realised her goose was cooked.

“I’m stuffed,” Kellalea told an investigator.

“I’m looking after something for someone which is going to get me into a lot of trouble.”

Kellalea then led police to a purple suitcase in a wardrobe which contained the bulk of the meth.

Kellalea, who also pleaded guilty to drug possession, was a drug “holder” or “courier” and her financial gain was to support her habit.

In a fresh twist, Kellalea fronted Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.

It’s alleged Kellalea provided false character references to the Shepparton County Court on December 3 last year.

Kellalea also allegedly made false documents which were tendered to the court.

Judge John Smallwood sentenced Kellalea for her drug racket in the Shepparton County Court on December 3.

Kellalea, who remains on remand, will next face court for the attempt to pervert the course of justice charge after her County Court matter has been finalised.
