For more than two decades, the nightclub at Croydon’s Dorset Gardens Hotel has been a weekend ritual for partygoers of all ages.
Dubbed by many as the ‘Dirty Dorset’, the longstanding pub on Dorset Rd attracts about 1100 patrons each weekend, with bands on Friday night and DJs on Saturdays.
The common long queues to get in have been a thing of the past in recent months, due to lockdown, meaning many are missing their chance to let off steam after a big week at work.
So, while many await for the doors to re-open, we have compiled a collection of pictures showing the partygoers in full swing at the DG Nightclub over the past few years.
Dorset Gardens Hotel manager Anthony Poloso said the venue was always proud to have maintained its nightclub and provide a local option for great parties.
“I think consistency is the big one, we’re pretty affordable, it’s only $10 to get in, the drinks aren’t ridiculous city prices, and we always have really good DJs and live bands,” he said.
While Covid-19 has temporarily turned the decks and amps off, Mr Poloso said the nightclub is “going nowhere” and completed renovations during last year’s lockdown including painting, new carpet and furniture.
He said while a fortunate few sampled the club’s new features last summer, the carpet still needed a bit of breaking in when the club eventually reopens.
“It’s the one thing everyone asks us about the most, when is the club is going to be back, and hopefully with everyone fully vaccinated, we can re-open soon,” Mr Poloso said.
