A shirtless man has been allegedly stalking women, trying to sniff their hands near a golf course in Melbourne’s east.
Police say the man was seen near Dorset Golf Course in Croydon between 10am and noon on August 23.
Croydon police Senior Constable Johnny Tran said officers were alerted after a member of the public saw the man on the walking track next to the golf course.
Sen-Constable Tran said the witness was going for a walk and saw the man acting “a bit strange”.
He said the man allegedly approached more than one woman.
Sen-Constable Tran said the incident was unusual, and the golf course and its surroundings were usually quite a safe area.
On Maroondah Leader’s Facebook page, Lauren James responded to a report of the incident and said: “I haven’t seen him but walked around there a few times and got the heebie geebies so never went back.”
“Creeps me out around there,” Ms James said.

Sen-Constable Tran said officers were yet to identify or interview any suspects.
The man was described as Indian appearance, with white hair and wearing dark grey pants, aged about 70.
