Almost $300,000 in cannabis destined for Melbourne’s streets has been seized in a morning house raid in Mooroolbark.
Croydon detective Senior Sergeant Jim Sutherland said officers came across the huge cannabis haul when they raided a home in Highland Crescent, Mooroolbark, on November 18 at 9am.
They found 91kg of the drug — including 76 plants — with an estimated street value of $288,000.
Sen-Sgt Sutherland said no one was home at the time of the raid but investigators were closing in on suspects following forensic testing.
“We are pleased we have got it (the drugs) off the streets and an imminent arrest is anticipated,” he said.
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested following the discovery of drugs and stolen property at a Rowville property on November 17.
Sen-Sgt Sutherland said officers raided the home in Wedge Crescent at 5.30am and uncovered $14,000 of drugs including cannabis, ice, cocaine and ecstasy.
They also found a taser, a set of knuckle dusters and stolen credit cards and cash.
Sen-Sgt Sutherland said a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman living at the home were arrested.
Both were charged with drug offences and possession of prohibited weapons.
Sen-Sgt Sutherland said the man was further remanded while the woman was bailed to face the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on March 31.
