COVID-19 Maroondah: Six clinics taking appointments to receive vaccine

Six Maroondah medical centres have begun taking appointments for a COVID-19 vaccine. Here’s how you can book yours in.

Maroondah residents can book in their COVID-19 vaccinations from Wednesday — with six clinics in four suburbs offering the service.

News Corp Australia can reveal the names of the first 1104 GP clinics who will begin delivering the AstraZeneca jabs under the stage 1b of the rollout from next Monday.

Demand for the shots is so high some of the clinics are already completely booked out for the first week of vaccine delivery.

Croydon residents have the most choice with two medical centres offering the vaccine, along with one each in Ringwood, Ringwood East, Ringwood North and Bayswater North.

Another nearby clinic in the Yarra Ranges, Kilsyth’s Churinga Medical Centre, is also on the list.

The number of GP practices able to deliver vaccines will progressively expand to more than 4000 throughout Australia by the end of April.

Health Minister Greg Hunt urged people to be patient due to the expected high demand, and to check their eligibility for a vaccine before booking.

Among those eligible for vaccines in phase 1b are people aged 70 years or older, health care workers, emergency services workers and those with a specified medical condition.

“No one will miss out, whether they live in a city or country town or a very remote area,” Mr Hunt said.

“Vaccines are the game changer in our fight against the COVID-19 virus and I urge everyone in Australia to come forward and get vaccinated when they are able to.”
