A major Mt Dandenong tourist destination has been listed as a Covid exposure site on the fourth day of Victoria’s lockdown.
SkyHigh appeared on the Department of Health’s Tier 2 list on Monday, May 31, two weeks after a person with Covid visited the Observatory Rd restaurant.
According to the government website, a diner ate at the venue’s restaurant between 6 and 7.50pm on May 15.
Anyone who visited the venue is being urged to get tested immediately and isolate until they have a negative result.
SkyHigh general manager Richard Pitt said he has closed the venue – which had been open for takeaway – until further notice.
Mr Pitt said all the staff on during the exposure period were getting tested and isolating until they received a negative Covid result.
“We won’t reopen until all negative test results come back,” he said.
“I’m not expecting anyone to come back with a positive (Covid) result.”
He said the restaurant had strict Covid procedures in place including making sure everyone who attended the venue register with the QR codes, hand sanitiser and a regular cleaning regime including tables, door handles, bathrooms and toilets.
Mr Pitt said a 160-guest wedding was hosted the same night at the venue but the event was hosted in a different area to the dining room.
“We get half a million visitors a year here so it was only a matter of time before we had someone who has been exposed or is a close contact,” he said.
Mr Pitt said he’d been waiting all morning to hear from the Department of Health about the case.
