One of Melbourne’s biggest shopping centres has donated tasty snacks to keep health workers’ spirits up during the coronavirus crisis
Eastland and the centre’s Coles supermarket have donated and delivered more than 6000 food packages to The Alfred and Box Hill hospitals.
The packages included muesli bars, fruit tubs, Big Ms and Shapes for workers to enjoy on their breaks.
Eastland general manager Greg Balmforth said the centre wanted to offer practical help to frontline workers and thank them for their ongoing efforts.
“We are in awe of what our health workers are doing to help tackle this pandemic, and we wanted to do something practical that would help them through their shifts,” he said.

“By providing ready access to a range of snacks, we hope to help make the break times our health workers have a little less stressful and that these food packages help lift spirits a little and provide some sustenance to help them deal with their next shift.”
Box Hill Hospital spokeswoman Gillian Shedden said staff were grateful for the donation and Eastern Health had been overwhelmed by community support during the outbreak.
