Chirnside Park Shopping Centre: Santa on track if coronavirus roadmap a success
With Victoria’s festive plans in disarray because of COVID, everyone wants to know whether Yarra Valley’s favourite Santa is planning a trip to Chirnside Park again this year. So we asked the jolly man in a suit himself if he was planning on the trip — and how his visit might look.

Santa is readying his reindeer for his trip to the Yarra Valley – if coronavirus numbers continue dropping.
For years Chirnside Park shopping centre’s Father Christmas has been considered the real deal and has a massive fan base within the outer east community.
And if all goes to plan with the State Government’s roadmap out of coronavirus restrictions, the big man in red is due to land at the Maroondah Highway shops later this year.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ said he is aiming for as normal a Christmas as possible.
And with 100 days until Christmas, Leader understands Chirnside Park shopping centre management is making safe plans for a fun festive season if the State Government’s roadmap out of coronavirus is a success.
Santa said it was likely it would be bookings only, so no queues in order to follow social distancing rules.
“Santa and adults will all be wearing masks.”
Sadly sitting on Santa’s lap might have to wait till next Christmas, with visitors required to stand next to man in red instead.
“That’s if everything works with the roadmap out of coronavirus,” he said.
“Behind the scenes we’re busy trying to work out all the details.”
Santa said he was looking forward to seeing everyone again.
“I can’t wait to get back and hope everyone is doing well,” he said.
