It was one of the longest running club nights in Melbourne and a rite of passage for 18 year olds, uni students and young clubbers looking for a Tuesday night party fix.
The old Casey’s nightclub, which opened in 1973, was the original home of Cheers Tuesdays and lured thousands of young clubbers from around Melbourne for decades.
Located right near Glenferrie station on Glenferrie Rd in Hawthorn, it boasted four rooms over two levels and regularly attracted well-known DJs pumping out the latest hits.
The club was packed out for end of exams and long weekend parties, and often held plenty of themed nights and guest appearances by reality TV stars and other celebrities.
And who could forget the drawcard of ‘Toss The Boss’ in the early 2000s, with clubbers getting the chance to win up to four free drinks on the toss of a coin.
The fun came to an end at the Hawthorn club in August 2018, and the future of the site at 660A Glenferrie Rd remains unclear.
Promoters Lucky Entertainment have since moved the night to venues including South Yarra’s Lucky Coq and 170 Russell in the CBD.
Naturally, Covid-19 has forced them to switch off the decks and put pause on this Tuesday night institution.
