A quiet street in Ferntree Gully bustled with production crews and construction workers over the weekend, as filming kicked off for House Rules’ much-anticipated seventh series.
The Channel Seven team mainly worked out of a family home on Bruce St, owned by young parents James and Courtney, in a hilly part of the suburb, while using a neighbouring property for on-site facilities.

Leader understands the property is one of the homes being transformed for the popular home-reno series.
The three-level house was built in 1982, and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, according to realestate.com.au.
It sold for $748,888 in July 2017.
Neighbours living in a nearby house, where they have been for more than 30 years, said the house was “huge”, and was previously owned by an elderly couple for years.
“Two families could live there comfortably,” one said.
The neighbours, who did not want to be named, said the house had recently been bought by the young couple.
One said she had heard James and Courtney were originally meant to be contestants on the previous season of House Rules, but had pulled out because Courtney had fallen pregnant.
The couple, who have one child, are reportedly staying in NSW while their house is made over.
More than 50 vehicles have moved into street in the meantime, including vans and delivery trucks.
One of the street’s residents said it was exciting to have filming happening in the street.
Another said while the traffic changes were a minor inconvenience, “the major upside is a young couple are getting a $300,000 makeover”.
A Channel Seven spokeswoman said the network was unable to provide formal comment on the series.
Screening is expected to start in mid-2019.
