Boronia crime: Mall and Junction businesses targeted in alleged burglary spree

An accused dirtbag was caught on the run by police who happened to be investigating his allegedly handiwork at Boronia shops.

A Boronia man tried to leg it before police were able to cuff the alleged crook with stolen cash and electronics in Boronia.

Knox detectives had been investigating a series of commercial burglaries in the area when they spotted the 37-year-old near the Dorset Rd shops on June 1.

Detective Senior Constable Ben Robertson said in the last week and a half there had been three burglaries allegedly committed by the same person.

Sen-Constable Robertson said police had been investigating the alleged theft of booze and clothes from shops at Boronia Junction and Mall.

He said during their investigations police spotted the man near Boronia station allegedly carrying stolen goods.

After a short chase the man was arrested and charged with 10 offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on June 2.
