The success of personal trainer and Yarra Ranges fitness guru Beaux Glenn could be measured by the loyalty of her tribe throughout Melbourne’s coronavirus lockdown.
The Mt Evelyn based group trainer has been voted the best personal trainer in Melbourne’s east by Leader readers – but it’s something her members already knew.
The 36-year-old mum of two primary school children has been running DynamiCardio for seven years, having grown the business from a part time gig in her garage to now employing five other personal trainers and a 300-strong membership base.
Ms Glenn had just moved into their more spacious gym on Melba Ave in Lilydale when lockdown happened, but that didn’t mean classes stopped.
“We have continued on since the beginning, running online sessions,” she said.
“We’ve had 30 plus sessions a week, so it has been incredible.
“We have a pretty amazing community.”
Ms Glenn said many members had continued to pay throughout the lockdown, which had meant she could continue to pay her lease and her staff.
She said it also meant others that weren’t able to pay for their fitness during the lockdown because of financial hardship were able to continue to take part in classes.
“It’s all about mental health at the moment,” she said.
“And this industry is the best for that because when we workout we release endorphins, and it’s also about keeping connected with each other.”
She said the reason classes had been able to continue had been down to how well everyone in the “tribe” knew each other.
The former Wandin North Primary School teacher and Mt Evelyn Football member says she loves her community.
