If you want a do with a view, Imperial Edge Hair in Wandin North is the place to be.

Stylist and business owner Nadine Amy has more than 20 years experience in her fingertips, and not only has a salon with a picturesque view of the Yarra Valley, she has built a tribe she loves.

The Yarra Valley salon run by Ms Amy – a hairdresser with more than 20 years’ experience – has been voted the region’s best by Leader readers.

“I have the best girls. The team is fantastic,” she said.

“One of my biggest achievements and something I love is training up the girls and the team.”

She said in the eight years since she first started the salon, which occupies the 100-year-old former Wandin General Store and Post Office building, she has trained about seven apprentices.

Using colour is another passion for Ms Amy and her team, who also are known for colour correcting – which has been something many have asked for since coming out of lockdown after attempting to dye their own locks.

“We have our own hair extension brand and we love doing extensions and anything with colour,” she said.

Ms Amy said the salon has a fantastic customer base with many of her original clients still coming to her 20 years down the track to get their hair done.

“We still laugh about the times when I was an apprentice,” Ms Amy said.

She said a lot of her success has been from knowing her community and not only loving, but living in the area where she works.

Woori Yallock’s Sian from The Valley Beauty Spot and Julia from Lilydale Hair were voted second and third best hairdressers.
