More than $400,000 of drugs, guns, cash and cars have been seized in a major police raid in Melbourne’s outer east.

Police officers raided the house in Bayswater North this week, uncovering a commercial quantity of MDMA, as well as ice, cannabis, ketamine, cocaine, GHB and prescription medication.

Police have said it was the dismantling of a “complex criminal syndicate” operating in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Croydon detective Acting Sergeant James Tarrant said officers attended the Bayswater Rd house on June 2 at 9am as part of an ongoing investigation.

Acting Sgt Tarrant said officers uncovered a haul of drugs, firearms and ammunition, cash, an alleged stolen car and an alleged stolen caravan.

The car and the caravan had a combined value of $280,000.

Acting Sgt Tarrant said $120,000 of drugs were seized, as well as a collection of firearms and ammunition and $11,000 in cash.

A 39-year-old man was also arrested.

Acting Sgt Tarrant said the man was hit with 37 charges associated with alleged drug trafficking, alleged drug possession, allegedly dealing with the proceeds of crime, alleged theft and alleged offences while on bail.

“Yesterday’s seizure has dismantled what was a complex criminal syndicate operating in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne,” he said.
“The community can be assured that police will continue to target any persons involved in the possession of firearms and stolen vehicles or in the trafficking of illicit drugs.

“Anyone that chooses to engage in such illegal activity can expect to be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law”.

Acting Sgt Tarrant said the man was further remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in August.
