North Melbourne: 17-year-old arrested over alleged Stawell St park stabbing

A teenager has been charged after an alleged stabbing left another teen with life-threatening injuries in North Melbourne. A second teen has also been arrested over a separate incident.

A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed another teen in a North Melbourne park and left him with life-threatening injuries.

Police believe the two teens met at the park on Stawell St on May 31 at 5pm.

A 16-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed, ran away from his alleged attacker, and later collapsed on nearby Dryburgh St.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the 16-year-old boy suffered upper body injuries and was taken to The Royal Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.

According to police, the boys condition has since stabilised on June 2.

According to 7News, police established multiple crime scenes in the area and searched bushland with SES officers for the weapon used in the attack.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested at his home on the afternoon of June 1.

He was charged with two counts of alleged intentional and alleged reckless behaviour causing serious injury, and one count of alleged armed robbery.

The 17-year-old will face a children’s court on June 2.

Meanwhile, another teen has been arrested over a separate alleged stabbing involving youths at a park in Brighton on May 22.

Moorabbin detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy on the morning of June 1 following the alleged late-night brawl at Elsternwick Park.

A 17-year-old boy sustained serious injuries in the alleged brawl and was taken to hospital for surgery.

Police are expected to charge the 16-year-old on summons at a later date.
