FOODIES rejoice because a new pop-up food truck park will be rolled out in Yarrambat this summer.

Yarrambat Park Golf Club general manager Michael McKay is driving the initiative and said more than half a dozen food trucks were expected to jump on board to offer “twilight” services from Friday to Sunday at their Yan Yean Rd site during daylight savings.

Mr McKay said the calendar — earmarked to begin on October 3 — is yet to be finalised but Sliders on Tyres, Ghost Kitchen, The Curry Truck and Gumbo Kitchen are expected to appear.

“A lot of people are flooding out to Welcome to Thornbury, which is great, but there is nothing similar out our way so I thought it’s a great niche for us to duck into,” Mr McKay said.

“It’s pretty picturesque and serene so why wouldn’t you want to hang around here?”

The food trucks will be located near the clubhouse and a pop-up bar will be installed for summer.

Mr McKay said he also hoped to provide live entertainment down the track.

“We’re in a way playing catch up with trendy areas like Northcote and Brunswick in offering creative things for our community,” he said.

“So I’m pretty pumped about giving this a go.”
