Two women arrested after three day inner-west crime spree

Two women from the northern suburbs have been arrested following an alleged crime spree — including forcing a man to drive them at gunpoint.

Police from the Fawkner Embona task-force have arrested two women over an alleged three day crime spree involving a carjacking and an attempted robbery at gunpoint.

Two women were allegedly seen breaking into a car just after 10am on Tuesday morning on Ascot St in Ascot Vale.

According to police, the women got into a car, threatening the driver with a gun, before forcing the driver to drive them to an address in Preston.

It was there, he escaped and reported it to the police.

One of the women was next seen attempting to rob a man along Racecourse Road in Kensington on Thursday at midday.

The woman approached the man and demanded $50 while threatening him with a gun.

The man refused and the woman left.

Police arrested a 49-year-old woman from Flemington and another woman, a 26-year-old from Preston, was arrested at 5.30pm Thursday night.

Both women have been charged with aggravated carjacking, false imprisonment, armed robbery and numerous other offences and were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
