Three men accused of a grisly Good Friday execution will fight the charges in the Supreme Court.

Luke Picking, Brodi Picking and Ian Harris appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 7 accused of the fatal shooting of Broadmeadows father Abdul Jamal.

Mr Jemal was fatally shot during a pre-dawn ambush outside a strip of shops along Justin Ave,Glenroy about 4.30am on March 29.

The former carpenter was allegedly shot in the neck before his assassins fled in a getaway vehicle.

A jogger reportedly found the murdered man’s body next to his car, which was also damaged in the gunfire.

It is alleged Luke Picking and Mr Jemal knew each other.

Mr Jemal’s family appeared in court via video link as it was announced the trio would plead not guilty.

Mr Jemal was known to police and had a criminal history.

Luke Picking was charged with Mr Jemal’s murder on April 19, while Brodi Picking was charged with his murder on June 14.

Mr Harris, who is not charged with murder, was on June 13 charged with “knowing or believing Luke Picking to be guilty of murder did without lawful authority or reasonable excuse do any act for the purpose of impeding the apprehension / prosecution / conviction / punishment of Luke Picking”.

Mr Harris, will apply for a new bail as his bail in the magistrates’ court has expired now he is headed to a higher court.

Luke Picking, of Newport, and Brodi Picking, who appeared side-by-side via video link from prison, did not apply for bail.

Magistrate Gregory Thomas committed the trio to stand trial at the Supreme Court.

They will front the Supreme Court on October 23 at 9am.
