An iconic Reservoir barber has been remembered as a “beloved” figure of Melbourne’s northern suburbs who was “devoted” to his craft after nearly 50 years of cutting hair.

It comes as Domenico Minniti, 84, died “peacefully” last Wednesday surrounded by his family.

Mr Minniti — known affectionately as “Mimmo” — ran Mimmo’s Barber & Hairdressing on High St, Reservoir for more than 40 years.

“He became a beloved figure in the community, welcoming three generations of loyal customers in his chair,” an online family tribute says.

“For almost five decades, Mimmo’s Barber & Hairdressing was a cornerstone of Reservoir. Known more than just haircuts — it was a place of connection, laughter and strong friendships.”

His legacy for cutting hair in Melbourne’s north lives on through his grandson Andre who runs “Next Door Barber & Co”.

“A true gentleman, adored by many. Mimmo served the community of Reservoir for almost 50 years ... a legacy promised to continued. The reason next door exists. Thank you nonno Mimmo,” the shop posted on social media.
