Thyme Park Wollert: Police to investigate suspicious park fire

A fire that ripped through a park in Melbourne's north has drawn the attention of police.

A fire that gutted a hectare of a popular local park in Melbourne's north has attracted the gaze of Victoria Police.

Just after 7.20pm last Sunday, January 14, the Wollert Fire Brigade responded to a call about an uncontained fire at Thyme Park in Anzac Drive.

In post online the brigade said that the fire burned nearly 1ha of land and came close to damaging homes.

It took six trucks and 24 firefighters from the Wollert, Epping, Craigieburn and South Morang brigades to bring the fire under control after half an hour.

Police are asking anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
