A sports club has been dealt a further blow after heartless thieves stole a cash register with $700 inside.

Crooks broke into Diamond Creek Bowling Club through a door on Thursday night.

Police are investigating the incident.

Club board member Anne Stubbings said the burglary was a “cruel setback” for the struggling club.

“To make $700 takes at least two weeks to a month, so to lose that profit is devastating,” she said.

“Financially we’re doing just okay, but we’re really struggling for members.

“All the hard work of our members and volunteers to promote the club and our community and someone has done this to us — it’s disheartening.”
