A Monopoly-style board game adapted by Diamond Creek CFA will be rolled out in schools, libraries, fire stations, community centres and cafes across Nillumbik.
The Fire Game, launched on Monday and developed by Surf Coast Shire, was adapted by Diamond Creek CFA to be Nillumbik specific.
Diamond Creek CFA third lieutenant Fiona Macken said the board game would operate like Monopoly and aim to educate the community about bushfire safety.
“We are looking forward to watching locals learn about fire safety in a fun and engaging way through this game,” she said.
“The Fire Game’s questions and answers provide relevant fire safety advice, as well as how communities can prepare in the lead up to summer and where to find this information.”
During the game you either land on a local place name or on one of four colours.
A yellow card is a chance card and the rest of the colours represent the before, during and after stages of a fire — with questions related to those three stages.
Landing on a place name means a player must then answer questions specific to that location.
