Street Watch: Whittlesea Nissan Navara owners urged to watch cars
Police are warning owners of a particular type of Nissan to watch their vehicles as car thieves prowl the north.

MERNDA
Mernda’s new $4.1 million ambulance branch was shown off to the public on July 28.
Neighbourhood Watch volunteers, paramedics, politicians and members of the Mernda CFA and Whittlesea SES unit joined the public for an open day at the branch.
The branch was completed in November last year and began operating in June.
WHITTLESEA
Do you know “Bosco” or “Seek”? These names have been written by vandals on property across Whittlesea.
Police are searching for two men they believe are responsible for the damage.

Police are warning people to not flaunt valuables when out in public. Most thefts occur when valuables are clearly visible and if possessions are left unattended.
Money, wallets, handbags, phones and electronics are attractive to thieves.
Police suggest that when you are out, be confident and keep your eyes up, take notice of street names, complain loudly if you are being harassed and keep bags zipped.

Nissan Navara owners are being urged to lock and secure their vehicles following a spate of thefts.
Police said people should lock their car and park it in a driveway or garage, rather than on a street or nature strip, and remove and secure any tools when the vehicle is unattended.
DOREEN
Two accident-prone intersections in Doreen will be made safer thanks to a $525,000 injection from the Federal Government’s black spot program.
Traffic lights will be installed at the Yan Yean Rd and Hazel Glen Drive intersection.
An upgrade to the intersection at Yan Yean Rd and Mitchells Run will enable drivers to only turn left out of Mitchells Run. The intersections are due to be upgraded early next year.

Epping CFA is reminding people to ensure their letterbox number is visible from the street.
Firefighters say it is crucial a number is visible so they can locate the address in a timely manner.
People can assist by making sure numbers are not obscured by grass or overgrown foliage. Do not block your letterbox by parking your car in front of it.
