ROSEBANK was the only team to emerge unscathed from a weekend of Jika Shield one-day games, pulling one game clear at the top of the ladder.

The Eagles produced a 48-run win over Heidelberg West defending 8-204 on Saturday and completed a perfect weekend when they accounted for Bundoora Park by 32 runs on Sunday.

Openers Rocky Sharma (63) and Joel Thompson (50) starred with the bat on Saturday, when Rosebank was the only side to post more than 200 runs.

The Eagles batsmen fired again against Bundoora Park, putting 6-238 on the board and restricting the Parkers to 8-206 in reply.

Keeper-batsman Buwaneka Ekanayake compiled an unbeaten 101 for Rosebank on Sunday, while Sharma added 36.

Rosebank is six points clear of Holy Trinity and 12 ahead of Bundoora Park, Preston YCW District and Rivergum.

The Roosters had a mixed weekend, upsetting Rivergum by six wickets on Saturday as Raja Sandhu snared 4-4 from eight overs, but going down by 12 runs against Keon Park in Round 6.

Matt Perri ensured reigning premier Rivergum stayed in touch with the pacesetters with 73 and 5-32 in the club’s 41-run victory over Holy Trinity.

Six sides went 1-1 over the double header weekend, with Bundoora Park the only side not to taste victory.

Heidelberg West (5-192) picked up its second win of the campaign over Preston Baseballers (156) on Sunday, bringing Baseballers back to earth after Michael Sortino’s 68 and 3-20 earned them a 23-run triumph against the Parkers.

While Rosebank is the early frontrunner and Holy Trinity has a one-game cushion in second, only six points separates third and eighth on a congested North Metro Cricket Association ladder.

The Eagles host Preston YCW District, Heidelberg West takes on Rivergum, Keon Park is at home against Bundoora Park and Holy Trinity meets Preston Baseballers in Round 7.
