Two Diamond Valley Cricket Association captains have clashed in a heated exchange in a Barclay Shield clash at the weekend.

Diamond Creek’s Daniel Gilbert and Macleod’s Tim Wise came together after the latter was dismissed by his opposite number during his side’s run chase.

Wise was given out LBW by the umpire in his side’s run chase before footage which appeared online showing Gilbert launch into celebrations in direct sight of the Macleod skipper.

As the Macleod skipper walks off the pitch, he appears to make a beeline for Gilbert with a Diamond Creek player standing between there.

As more Diamond Creek players run into celebrate, Wise can be seen being pushed away by an opposition player before walking off the ground.

The situation is quickly diffused as the Macleod captain leaves the ground before umpires can be seen talking to Diamond Creek players.

In what was a tense match, Macleod went onto win by one wicket with Wise’s dismissal the eight of his side’s innings.

Sean Fisher (12 runs off 36 balls) eventually hit the winning runs for his side after chasing down their target of 110.

Diamond Creek had been bowled out for 109 on day one after Wise finished with 5-18.

PLENTY’S STATEMENT WIN

Plenty remains the team to beat in the Money Shield after a thumping win over Greensborough. The ladder leader prevailed by 114 runs as Gordon Zull and captain Mitch Johnson both hit half-centuries. Luke Richardson and Riley Gaylard did the damage with the ball taking nine wickets between them.

EPPING DEALS RIVERSIDE A BLOW

Riverside’s hopes of finishing in the top-four took a hit after second place Epping delivered an impressive run chase. The Pingers ran out four-wicket winners after successfully chasing down their target with just over four overs to spare. Nathan Gardiner was the pick of the batsman with 83 off 141 as Nathan Graham also scored a half-century.

BUNDOORA GETS ITS SECOND WIN

Bundoora has given its Barclay Shield survival hopes a major boost after researching a 42-run win over Research Eltham Collegians. Despite a half-century from vice-captain Joshua Ward, Collegians were only able to reach 136 on day one. Prabhnoor Bhalla hit 76 off 122 in the run chase to guide Bundoora across the line.

THOMPSON’S MATCHWINNING KNOCK

Bundoora United moved closer to securing its spot in the top-four after a seven-wicket win over Lalor Stars. The Stars posted 9-188 from their 80 overs as Jamie Scott posted a half-century. United captain Joel Thompson was in no rush in the run chase hitting 94 off 60 balls to lead his side to victory.

MONEY SHIELD LOW SCORING THRILLER

The runs might not have come thick and fast in the clash between Hurstbridge and Mernda but it was a thrilling clash. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Hurstbridge posted 110 all out led by Billy Lovett’s 40 with only Daniel Sadowy also reaching double figures. James Baker took five wickets for Mernda. Mernda eventually fell eight runs short despite a half-century from Alex Mitris as all batters who came in after four scored in single figures.
