Success is a feeling best served with a team, volleyball players from South Morang have found.
Late last month, The Lakes South Morang College Year 8 girls volleyball team took out division one of the Volleyball Victoria Three Day Schools Cup.
Year 8 girls volleyball team coach Marc Heenan said the competition was the most “prestigious in the state” and his team were underdogs.
“I had a resting heart rate of 140, watching was the most nerve-racking thing I’ve ever done as a teacher,” he said.
Player Georgia Hatzikiriazis said the team lost their first game but won the next four.
After winning the competition there were “lots of tears”, she said.
Mr Heenan said the biggest lesson for his players was realising “the team has my back and I have theirs”.
