Neighbours in a Greensborough street fear lives will be lost if nothing is done to stop reckless drivers speeding past their homes.
Alan Sturmar said speeding was a common problem for people living in Sunrise Drive.
His concerns were justified when a P-plater lost control of his car and ploughed into a tree outside his house on December 23.

Greensborough police Senior Constable John Phillips said the vehicle was a “mangled wreck”, and the two men, both 22, from Greensborough were “extremely lucky” to escape serious injuries.
The driver was also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Mr Sturmar said speed humps were the only solution.
“I don’t like them, but it’s the only way drivers will stop speeding,” he said.
“We were just about to unload my brother-in-law’s car in the driveway when the accident happened; I have a 10-year-old and if we went out any earlier he would have been right in the middle of it.
“It’s not good, I don’t like the attitude, it’s a blatant disregard for anyone living here.”
“It’s just a residential street with a 50km/h speed limit — drivers need to take it easy,” he said.
Mr Sturmar said he became aware of an increase in traffic on Sunrise Dr due to ongoing road works at the Yan Yean, Diamond Creek and Aqueduct roads intersection.
He anticipated traffic would only worsen as that intersection was closed until January 24 while upgrade works were carried out.
“Cars are bypassing that area and coming through here,” he said.
“Something needs to be done or something bad will happen.”
