St Catherine’s pupil Bradley Berry is the living example of when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Last year, the six-year-old spent months in and out of hospital after developing a hernia.
This year, feeling “much better” and having been inspired by a book called The Lemonade Stand, Bradley (pictured) has set out to raise cash for the Royal Children’s hospital by turning lemons into lemonade.

Bradley’s father Brad Phelps said his son came home after reading the book and announced his idea and desire to give the money from lemonade sales to “help sick children”.
What followed was 220kg of lemons being donated by the community in 18 days and about two months of after school trips to Bunnings and hours of work to build the stand, Mr Phelps said.
The stand made it’s debut at St Catherine’s Primary School in Lalor recently.
Principal Karen Robertson said the verdict was that the lemonade was “delicious”.
Ms Robertson said the stand was an example of the sense of social justice instilled in Bradley at school and at home.
The stand was also at the St Clare’s Parish carols night in Thomastown.
