Chau’s licence was disqualified for 12 months after he was caught drink driving in 2018, the court heard.
Magistrate Marita Altman said while Chau getting behind the wheel instead of his intoxicated may have seemed like “the lesser of two evils”, it was no excuse for the offence.
“There’s never a good reason,” she said.
Ms Altman ordered him to pay a $500 fine as well as court costs, but spared him a conviction.
