Police have arrested a 21-year-old after the owner of a Lalor nail salon was allegedly threatened with a knife during a terrifying attempted armed robbery on Wednesday, May 22.
The Montmorency man is assisting Mill Park Serious Crime Taskforce with inquiries.
Detectives were told a man allegedly pulled out a knife and demanded money from the owner at Ruby Nails and Waxing on May Rd about 11.40am.
The alleged crook then fled the scene empty-handed after the victim screamed.

The shopping strip has been plagued with crime in the past with Whittlesea Council installing CCTV cameras throughout the precinct last year in a sweeping $250,000 security crackdown.
Up to 17 cameras were installed along May Rd, between David and Messmate streets, including two cameras in Peter Lalor Walk and another two in the carpark at the corner of May Rd and Cyprus St.
