A playground inspired by Australian author May Gibbs’ Snugglepot and Cuddlepie characters has opened in Donnybrook.
Part of Mirvac’s Olivine community, the recently completed Gumnut Park and Adventure Playground features three timber gumnut play towers, two mega slides, a double flying fox, a large rope and timber climbing structure, and a sand play area ideal for younger children.
Skate ramps and a half basketball court, as well as two large picnic shelters with barbecues is also on offer nearby.
For parents looking for a caffeine hit, The Shared Cup social enterprise cafe has also opened its doors at the estate.
Run by Derek Bradshaw, the owner of Now and Not Yet cafe in Warrandyte, the The Shared Cup will focus on hiring local people who may typically find employment challenging and will reinvest profits back into the community.
Mirvac will host a virtual event on Saturday enabling prospective buyers to remotely explore the new display village at its 465-hectare Olivine masterplanned community.
The 465-hectare community will have in excess of 4000 lots and will be home to
about 11,000 residents, with 120ha of land dedicated to open space and conservation.
About 200 residents across 85 homes are already living at Olivine with 144 new homes under construction.
The next phase of the development on the way in 2021 includes a 9ha sporting precinct, featuring a dog park and skate park; the State Government’s planned Hayes Hill primary school; and a future local town centre featuring 10,000sq m of retail and 5,500sq m of commercial space.
The estate is at 995 Donnybrook Rd.
