The $2.5 million Diamond Creek Regional Playspace is ready to welcome visitors.
Nillumbik Council has announced the playground will open to the public today, Saturday, October 31.
Located at Diamond Creek Reserve, the council said the long-awaited nature-themed playspace was designed for all ages and abilities.
It includes dedicated junior and senior play areas, flying foxes, and a nature play and cubby area, as well as picnic shelters, seats, tables, barbecues, and public toilets.
The council said it wasn’t just the kids who would have all the fun, with The Rotary Club Tram cafe offering freshly brewed coffee, other beverages and delicious treats for the adults as well.
“We expect the new playspace to be busy and we ask that visitors follow the Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions,” the council said on Facebook.
“Please observe social distancing guidelines, wear a face mask if over 12 years of age, and practise good hand hygiene.”
More than 450 people have reacted to the council’s post announcing the playspace’s opening on Facebook, with many planning to check out the new playground this weekend.
