Frontline workers at Northern Health are calling on community support as the Epping hospital prepares for a “significant rise” in patients during the upcoming winter months.
Foundation director Yvonne Amos said the hospital had launched a COVID-19 rapid response fund to boost their capacity to help patients awaiting treatment in the fever clinic, and respiratory and intensive care units.
“Our dedicated staff are working hard to keep our community safe, and they need your help during this challenging time,” she said.
“The fund is designed to accelerate and increase our capacity to care for COVID-19 patients
and provide support for frontline staff at a critical time for our services, including additional
equipment to exclusively treat COVID-19 patients.”

Ms Amos said donations would go towards 27 high-flow oxygen machines for coronavirus patients and health and wellbeing support for frontline medical staff.
Funds would also help the hospital install two extra ultrasound machines to monitor lung changes in patients with severe pneumonia or acute respiratory distress syndrome.
