A man accused of murdering a woman inside the home he allegedly burned down north of Melbourne has appeared in court.
Timothy Loosemore was charged with murder and arson after a house fire at the rural town of Goldie in the Macedon Ranges last year.
Mr Loosemore appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday from custody via videolink for a committal mention.
Court documents, previously obtained by the Herald Sun, allege Mr Loosemore murdered the woman and intentionally destroyed the house by setting fire to it,
Emergency services were called to a Mt William Rd, Goldie property about 10.30pm on August 5 before the grim discovery was made.
On Thursday, Mr Loosemore’s lawyer, Andrew Papadimitropoulos requested an adjournment.
Magistrate Brett Sonnet asked Mr Papadimitropoulos if six weeks was sufficient, which he accepted.
Mr Sonnet said he granted the delay in light of the charges which were a “serious matter”.
Mr Loosemore appeared from custody in a green shirt with white hair and a goatee.
The committal mention will continue on April 5.
