A pair of thugs who stormed several homes, assaulted multiple victims and stole cars during a frightening Melbourne-wide crime rampage have been jailed.

The teen terrors – who cannot be named for legal reasons – were sentenced in the County Court to a minimum of two-and-a-half and three years’ jail respectively.

The ruling came after the 19-year-old menaces pleaded guilty to a range of charges including aggravated home invasion, aggravated carjacking and false imprisonment over the May 2019 crime spree.

They were among a gang of thugs who forced their way into the back of a Bentleigh home on Pasadena Court before 9pm on May 26, 2019, with two of them armed with knives.

The group assaulted two of the three occupants, punching a woman in the face, before fleeing in the resident’s BMW with jewellery, electronics, passports and cash.

The BMW was driven at high speed to Port Melbourne and crashed.

The pair then hijacked a car from a husband, wife and their four-year-old daughter who were getting into their vehicle.

The teens surrounded the car, with one threatening the woman with a knife, before the family got out of the car and the boys took it to Derrimut, arriving about midnight.

The court heard they then kicked in the front door of a house while wearing face coverings and gloves.

They assaulted one of the four occupants then held all four in a room while ransacking the house, taking two cars, computers, handbags, phones and 15,000 euros.

The thugs then drove the stolen Mercedes Benz to Mernda, where offenders stormed a house wearing balaclavas.

They ransacked the home, where a young family was sleeping, assaulting the father and stealing electronics, a Mercedes and a BMW.

The Mercedes was crashed soon after.

The court heard one of the victims the boys terrorised gave an impact statement to the court, revealing her family’s sense of security and wellbeing had been “irreparably damaged”.

The court heard both brutes had been assessed as at serious risk of committing further violent crimes.

Judge Mark Dean sentenced both teens to a maximum of five years and six months’ and six years’ jail respectively.
