Neighbours have reported hearing an explosion as a skip burst into flames in Lalor.
Fire Rescue Victoria crews are responding to the fire on Bunting Court and Clifton Grove.
A neighbour said the skip “just exploded” and he ran out and there was smoke everywhere.
A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said two pumper rankers from Thomastown and Epping fire stations quickly brought the 3 x 1m fully involved skip fire under control two minutes after arriving on the scene Monday afternoon.
The spokesperson said firefighters would remain on scene for some time extinguishing the blaze and preventing any possible spread to nearby structures.
No injuries have been reported.
