A sham hormone specialist who has beens permanently banned from offering health services has indicated she will be pleading guilty to a set of charges in court.
Following an investigation, in 2022 the Victorian Health Care Complaints Commissioner (HCC) issued a public health service warning statement against Keti “Kate” Cvetkov.
Adjunct Professor Bernice Redley found Cvetkov had depicted herself as an endocrinologist and offered medical treatment, which resulted in adverse outcomes for the patient.
She was subsequently hit with a prohibition order and permanently barred from practising general health services.
“(The) safety of Victorians continues to be our number one priority,” Professor Redley wrote in a statement at the time.
“I have issued this permanent ban on Keti (Kate) Cvetkov as I believe she poses a serious risk to the health, safety and welfare of the Victorian public and should be prohibited from offering her services.”
In court, defence lawyer Hirani Nair asked for an adjournment.
She indicated at the next appearance her client would be entering a guilty plea.
Magistrate Jennifer Grubissa said the court had been concerned about the length of time taken to resolve the matter.
Earlier this year, the Herald Sun reported the matter had been adjourned nine times previously, with Ms Grubissa labelling the delay “not acceptable”.
The matter will return to court later this year for a fixture plea.
