A woman from Melbourne’s northern suburbs who killed her 22-year-old passenger in a crash at Diggers Rest will stand trial.

Jessica Glennie, of Sydenham, entered a guilty plea to dangerous driving and causing death at a committal at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday, over the incident in September 2021, where Magistrate Leon Fluxman deemed the evidence for that charge was sufficient enough to support a conviction.

The court heard she will plead not guilty to a related summary charge of driving while more than the prescribed concentration of drugs, namely cannabis, was in her blood, which will be heard in the County Court

Glennie’s lawyer Naomi Smith said she was seeking a directions hearing at the Country Court in relation to the aspect of cannabis.

“Ms Glennie will enter the plea of the charge (of dangerous driving causing death) as guilty but not guilty to the related summary offence and that’s a matter that will be determined at the contested plea”.

Glennie will remain on bail with the same conditions, whereby she is unable to drive.

Her first directions hearing will be heard at Melbourne’s County Court in July.
