PLANS to transform part of the old Broadmeadows Ford factory kick into gear today, as the company starts to seek expressions of interest from potential buyers.
The closure of Ford Australia’s car manufacturing industry in 2016 brought an end to 91 years of operation, forcing 600 workers out of jobs across its Broadmeadows and Geelong plants.

Two years on from its factory closures, the company has today announced it is seeking expressions of interest for parts of the former Broadmeadows site.
Ford Australia’s president and chief executive Kay Hart said the company’s plans to divest some properties at the site would not impact current employees.
“Broadmeadows is home to one of Ford’s three global research and design centres, and our
Ford customer service division,” she said.
“Regardless of the outcome, we remain invested in Broadmeadows with these operations. “They will not be impacted by this divestment process.”
The outcome of the expression of interest process will inform future plans.
