A teenage drug dealer from Melbourne’s north has been warned he will be thrown in jail if he is caught trafficking drugs again.

Jordan Windsor was released from police custody on strict bail conditions at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 1, having spent a night in the cells.

The court heard the Diamond Creek 19-year-old was picked up by police for alleged drug trafficking after having recently been put on a community corrections order for drug offences.

Windsor told Magistrate Helen Murphy “it was a dumb slip up”, but she didn’t agree.

“Well, it’s not a dumb slip up — you made admissions to the police that you’ve been selling drugs,” she said.

“I’m sorry about that,” he said.

Ms Murphy said Windsor seemed to have “a very, very significant cannabis problem”, but she wanted him to be clear that repeat drug traffickers were incarcerated.

“If you get caught doing this again, you’re going to jail,” she said.

“You have certainly put yourself at risk of getting remanded into custody.”

Windsor said his night in custody had given him a fright: “I’ll be honest a night in the cells does scare the crap out of anyone.”

Ms Murphy said she was satisfied strict bail conditions could make releasing him an acceptable risk.

He was ordered to live at his parents’ Diamond Creek house with a 9pm to 6am curfew.

“That’s perfect,” he said.

Ms Murphy said he must also follow the instruction of the youth justice supervised bail program, under which he would get drug, alcohol and mental health treatment.

“You are a young person with some significant drug issues.”

“You’ve got your whole life ahead of you.”
